PTA Awards

 The State and National PTA offer many programs and awards to members 

 

PTSA LIFE ACHIEVEMENT AWARD- Application
Life Achievement Awards (National and State) are granted as an honor to those members who have given outstanding service to children and youth. The CT PTSA Life Achievement Award is sixty-five dollars ($75.00), which includes a certificate and pin.

 

CONNECTICUT PTSA SCHOLARSHIP AWARD-Application
The annual Connecticut PTSA Scholarship Award (in memory of Christa McAuliffe) to one or more  graduating seniors of a Connecticut high school PTA/PTSA and is supported by honorary life achievement awards, half the state portion of Founders day gifts, contributions, memorials and funds from the general fund.  Through an application and selection process, the annual CT PTSA Scholarship Award is given to a student who expects to pursue a career in teaching.  Applications are mailed to high school PTA/PTSAs presidents and guidance offices.  Completed applications must be returned to the State Office by March 15.  The award is presented at the annual state convention.

 

STUDENT VOLUNTEER AWARD
The student volunteer award may be awarded on a yearly basis and is for students, who are members of their PTA/PTSA/SEPTA and who the unit or council recognizes as representing “volunteerism at its best”! Units or councils must submit a one page narrative. Judging of the entries will be done by the President and the student representatives and the award will be presented at the convention or at an individual unit or council meeting. A certificate will be presented  for this award.

 

ELAINE BOULAY AWARD
The Elaine Boulay Award is presented to a member of the CT PTSA Board of Directors who is not a member of the Executive Committee and has made an outstanding contribution to foster the work of the CT PTSA during the past year.
     The Award, inaugurated in 1984, is given in memory of Elaine Boulay, a long-time member of the CT PTSA Board of Directors.  The Award for sustained service, energy, and time is presented to a Board member who has practiced the philosophies of PTA.  It marks Elaine’s contributions of willingness, capability, competence, reliability and the need to “fill in the gaps”.  The Award is limited to board members only because Elaine only served on the Board, she was never elected to office.   It is presented at the Convention.
NOMINATIONS:
The members of the Executive Committee nominate candidates and select by a simple majority by paper ballot an Executive Committee meeting no later than 3- days prior to the annual convention.   The results are kept confidential until the Annual Convention.

 The recipient receives a plaque.  A short biography and list of contributions is published in the CT PTSA BULLELTIN.

 

PRESIDENT’S CHOICE AWARD
The president’s choice award may be given yearly and is completely up
to the discretion the current president
