Best Buy's Children's Foundation has announced that it will give $2 million in grant awards through its Community Grants Program

Typical grant awards are in the amount of $3,000 - $5,000 (with a maximum of $10,000). 

Applicants must have 501 (c)(3) status and must serve a diverse population of young teens (primarily ages 13-18) in the areas of learning, life skills, leadership or relationship development. 

Applications will be accepted June 1 - July 1, 2010.

 Grant Alert

 Community Conversations About Education, underwritten by the William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund, will award new grants for the next round of conversations. The application deadline is July 15, 2010.

The grants support planning for the conversations. Recent topics have included: Parental involvement, Bullying, Substance Abuse, School Readiness and Skills for the 21st Century. For the past fifteen years the grants have been used in 101 Connecticut communities to organize education discussions on a broad range of education topics.

The conversations bring together a diverse group of 100 local citizens to discuss issues of importance to them. Conversations will be held in 2010 through spring 2011.
