The Public Is Invited to a
No Child Left Behind Community Forum
Presented by the National PTA President

Just as no child should be left behind, no parent or community member should be left behind. We all need to more fully understand the ramifications and intricacies involving The No Child Left Behind federal law.

The Connecticut Parent Teacher Association (PTA) will be educating the public about this important educational issue next week. The No Child Left Behind Community Forum has been scheduled on Tuesday, March 30, at 7:30 p.m. at North Haven High School, 222 Maple Ave., North Haven.

The public is invited to attend to this free informational session that will feature Linda Hodge of Colchester, CT, President of the National PTA. She is the first National PTA President to serve from the state of Connecticut. She will give the audience an overview of the national PTA position regarding The No Child Left Behind law.

In addition, Thomas Murphy of the Connecticut Department of Education, Public Information Office, will provide attendees with the Connecticut perspective on the law.

Connecticut PTA is a statewide organization that advocates on behalf of its more than 56,000 PTA members in Connecticut. This group includes more than 250 individual PTAs and 21 PTA Councils.

Connecticut PTA is part of National PTA, the largest volunteer child advocacy organization in the United States. This group is comprised of 6 million members and more than 26,000 PTA groups in all 50 states, the US Virgin Islands and in military bases overseas in Europe and the South Pacific. This not-for-profit association includes parents, educators, students and other citizens active in their schools and communities.

For more information about this forum, please call the PTA office in Hamden at (203) 281-6617 or access their website at www.ctpta.org. Specific questions may be directed to Therese Duncan, Vice President of Leadership, CT PTA, at kcspta@aol.com.
